there's a beck song that contains a sample that goes like this,
say: Ooh, la la, sassoon! C'mon, c'mon
maybe it says that. (frankly, i've never been sure.) it sounds like, say-zu
which is interesting because i just read about an american actress called ZaSu Pitts, but her name was pronounced "Say Zoo"
wikipedia says,
Early life
ZaSu Pitts was born in Parsons, Kansas, to Rulandus and Nellie (née
Shay) Pitts; she was the third of four children. Her father, who had lost a leg
while serving in the 76th New York Infantry Regiment in the Civil War, had settled the
family in Kansas by the time ZaSu was
born.
The names of her father's sisters, Eliza and Susan, became the basis for
ZaSu's unique first name,
Kooky!
I only came across her because I was looking up something called "monkey bread" (of course I was) and wikipedia (there's that name again) advised that ...
The origin of the term monkey bread is uncertain...The packaging of a stoneware "Monkey Pot" made by
Boston Warehouse in 1981 claimed that "monkey bread was named by that unique and
whimsical comedienne, ZaSu
Pitts, who so referred to it because, as she said, "you have to monkey
around with it."
she does look whimsical. and so is her name. what a classy dame. i'm sorry i hadn't heard of her before.
